Before the 7 Day Instrument Rating: In order to maximize your experience and not waste time learning things you can do on your own, please complete the following before beginning the 7 day program.

  • Pass the instrument knowledge exam through one of the following methods:

                  or Aviation Seminars

     
    • Purchase a King, ASA, Sporty's, or Gleim DVD self study course
    • Purchase an ASA, Gleim or Jeppesen instrument test prep manual, allowing you to study focusing specifically on the exam questions
  • Have at least 45 hours of cross country PIC time
  • Have at least 10 hours of airplane simulated instrument time (this can be done VFR with a safety pilot)

  • IFR Low Enroute Chart appropriate to your area
  • Approach charts appropriate to your area
