Advanced Training > 7-Day Instrument Rating
Before the 7 Day Instrument Rating: In order to maximize your experience and not waste time learning things you can do on your own, please complete the following before beginning the 7 day program.
- Pass the instrument knowledge exam through one of the following methods:
- Ask about specially designed weekend classes conducted by Take Flight San Diego for students who need to pass the knowledge test before taking the 7 Day Program
- Attend a quality instrument ground school such as Abrams Aviation, San Diego Ground Schools, American Flyers
- Have at least 45 hours of cross country PIC time
- Have at least 10 hours of airplane simulated instrument time (this can be done VFR with a safety pilot)
