5 Day CFI
Earning your CFI is one of the most challenging steps in your aviation career. Compressing it into 5 days is the most efficient and economical way to do it. From a flight perspective, you have already demonstrated the skills necessary, so now all you need is to be able to fly from the right seat, teach (and talk) through the maneuvers, and be able to effectively teach all of the tasks in the CFI practical test standards. In order to be able to complete the program in 5 days and be ready for the practical test, you must have already prepared written lesson plans on every task of the PTS. Read "Preparing for the CFI Practical Test" first which is an excellent guide to preparing yourself for the intensive 5 day program. It also includes a typical schedule of ground and flight sessions for each day. You'll also find plenty of helpful resources for your CFI preparation on my web site here. The cost for the 5 Day Accelerated CFI Program is an all inclusive $3,500 plus airplane costs. Typically we will fly about 1.5 hours each day and spend the remaining time on oral preparation.
The following pre-requisites need to be met before enrolling.
- Pass both Flight Instructor and Fundamentals of Instruction knowledge exams through one of the following methods:
- Hold a commercial certificate with an instrument rating
- Minimum Required Texts for the Program
- ASA CFI Practical Test Standards
- ASA CFI Oral Exam Guide
- FAA H-8083-25 Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge
- FAA H 8083-3 Airplane Flying Handbook
- Current FAR/AIM
